Weighs and Means

Yes, I realize that it is usually rendered as Ways and Means. I don't think it makes a difference. Anyhow: the way it is - cores are rare and poor quality. Yamaha bored cykinders eccentrically and installed seats and guides offset frcm each other. They slap-dashed millions of engines together, and simply chose to warranty those that fell well beyond the tolerance limits. It was cheaper than doing a good job to start with. Running our performance parts will not only take these motors beyond their stock limits, but - perhaps - bring them into a much finer tolerance than they had as new. Double Plus.

Whenever I can find them reasonable, I buy complete heads and cylinders. Prices have crept up and the folks I've sold to have chosen (largely) to keep their old parts. The pieces I find now are simply too costly. Almost all heads have broken fins and mottled gasket surfaces. The cylinders have decks out of parallel, gouged up surfaces, and broken fins. Now-a-days, a typical cylinder needs almost as much machine work as the big bore takes all by itself.

More to come . . .
